Austin, TX – Oh So Delicious Part ONE – BACON

We’ll get to the entertainment of Austin soon enough, but for now, the next few blogs will be a celebration of FOOD!

I first got into Austin, and most of my friends know my love for bacon. Unhealthy? Yes. Greasy? Yes. Utterly AMAZING EXPLOSION of taste in your mouth? YES!!

Michelle took me to a restaurant called, BACON. We pull up and the establishment has a pig as their sign.

The restaurant was an enjoyable, relaxed place with outdoor seating. Sunshine and bacon; there’s not much you can go wrong there.

The menu has the basic grill-type foods from breakfast, salads, burgers, tacos, and other specialty items. What made this place stand out from regular places that “add bacon” to their meals, is the option of what type of bacon you want.

There are different types of bacon flavors on different days: house, hickory, maple pepper, garlic pepper bacon, creole, etc. The sauces and dressings are also infused with the taste of bacon you want.

Michelle and I ordered:

Sweet Corn Fritters – Fritters served with bacon aioli

Biscuits and Bacon Gravy – 2 buttermilk drop biscuits topped with house bacon gravy.

Broken Yolk BLT – 2 fried eggs, bacon, bibb lettuce, tomato, house mayo sandwiched between 2 pieces of Texas toast.

Bacon Wedge – Romaine topped with tomato, bacon, chive, and bleu cheese crumbles, with bacon vinaigrette

The corn fritters are a MUST because what they do with the sauce is magnificent. The sandwich is juicy, the biscuits are hearty, and the creole bacon and vinaigrette I ordered on the “trying to be somewhat healthy” wedge salad was AMAZING. Bacon lovers, please check this place out if you ever find yourself in Austin.
