If you’re into tennis, then you might be into this blog! 😉
As the BNP Paribas Open finished up the past week in Indian Wells, California, I was able to catch some of the first matches. I hadn’t watched tennis live in a long time and working this event as a photographer 3 years ago really brought back nostalgic feelings! ***sigh*** Nevertheless, this has always been one of my favorite tournaments to go to. This is the largest pro event outside the grand slams. It also feels like the most personal and closest you can get to the pros.
Held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, they truly make it so you have the best experience with their phenomenal grounds setup. With a newly remodeled stadium, visitors can wine and dine in the upstairs restaurants which overlook into the stadium. Food, drinks, and a clear view of the featured match makes it perfect for any hungry tennis enthusiast. Down below you’ll find a string of food venues and bars with jumbotrons so you don’t miss a second of play.
Practice courts are wide open for fans to watch their favorite pros warm up and see their routines.
If you only have a general ticket to the grounds, don’t worry about missing a main stadium match as you’ll find 3 jumbotrons with lawn chairs making it easy to sit back and relax!
If you can’t sneak a signature after a match, there’s also signing times with pros featured every other hour at the Tennis Warehouse tent or main tent.
I had the pleasure of watching Ana Ivanovic capture a stressful win in her first round against Elina Svitolina 4-6, 7-5, 7-6. This young Ukrainian is sure to have a great career as you can see the potential and tenacity to climb the professional ladder.
I watched Roger Federer blast shots back and forth with Paul-Henri Mathieu. The strength and smoothness of Fed’s game amazes me every time. He easily captured the first set 6-2 but had a tough close out in the second winning 7-6.
Every tennis enthusiast should check out this tournament. Not only is the venue amazing, but the surrounding areas of Palm Springs will make it an unforgettable trip! Check out this video from Tennis Warehouse for a better insight of the tournament! What has been your favorite tournaments?
